Beckham: I'll play until I'm 40!

England midfielder David Beckham has vowed to extend his playing career until he is 40, and wants to grace the 2014 World Cup with his presence too.

The former Manchester United star has never widely confirmed that the World Cup in South Africa 2010 would be his final swansong, even though many thought it would be his last international tournament as a player.

However, the LA Galaxy ace, who is currently on loan at Italian giants AC Milan has spoken of his desire to continue playing for at least another five years.

This would mean he would be the granddad of English football, still strutting his stuff at a positively ancient 40 years old.

Should Becks get his wish then it would also mean an appearance in the 2014 World Cup finals in Brazil. The maestro confirmed his plans in a recent interview.

"The 2014 World Cup? We'll see," he told Sportsweek.

"I'd like to play until I'm 40 and take part in another World Cup but you have to evaluate things year on year.

"I've said I'll always be available for England."
