Chelsea boss Carlo Ancelotti has admitted he would rather avoid meeting former club AC Milan in the last 16 of the UEFA Champions League. The draw for knockout stages takes place on Friday, December 18th, with Chelsea amongst the eight group winners having topped Group D, whilst both AC and Inter Milan will be amongst the runners-up.
The eagerly-anticipated draw will see the group winners pitted against the group runners-up, meaning the chances of the Blues meeting either one of the two Italian giants is a distinct possibility.
However, Ancelotti has revealed he would rather face a showdown with former Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho and his Inter side rather than a reunion with Milan, with whom he spent eight years in charge prior to his switch to West London in the summer.
"Should I have to pick between Milan and Inter, I’d plump for the Nerazzurri," he told
La Gazzetta dello Sport.
"I would like to avoid [Milan boss] Leonardo as that clash would be too emotionally charged."Although admitting he would prefer a two-legged tussle with Inter over the
Rossoneri, the Italian tactian believes the Serie A champions are the team to avoid from the runners-up pool.
"Still, Inter are the strongest side in the pool of the second-placed teams. They struggled in the beginning, but then they managed to get back on track," he said.
"I watched them on Wednesday night and they played an excellent match. And [Mario] Balotelli is a great talent."We here at
