Capello cautious over 'easy' England draw

England boss Fabio Capello has admitted that he is more than happy with England's group draw for South Africa 2010, but urged caution also.

The football gods were smiling on England in Cape Town yesterday. During a draw which threw up the inevitable 'Group of Death', two extremely tough looking groups, a competitive one, an open looking one and three easy groups, the Three Lions found themselves in the latter category.

Yes, the USA will provide a stern test for Capello's men, but it's one they should pass. But the might of Algeria, and Slovenia. Well, if they prove problematic then there is something desperately amiss in the camp.

It looks to be a simple passage through to the last 16, where England could face the old enemy Germany - but are more likely to face Ghana or Australia.

However, Capello was quick to urge caution when he reflected on the draw, though admitted that he was pleased.

"Yes, of course. Other groups are stronger than ours."

"It is still not easy and that is what I will tell the players."

Capello continued, and commented on the perceived strength of England's opponents.

"We played against Slovenia at home and I well remember suffering in the second half. USA can prepare for the World Cup better than us and prepare with their training a long time before us.

"Also they played in South Africa in the Confederations Cup. I saw their game against Spain, which they won, so it will be no easy game.

"Algeria played very well against Egypt so, psychologically, it will not be easy. We respect all the teams."
