Inter Milan could be ready to pip Chelsea to the signing of Atletico Madrid hitman Sergio Aguero, with the Nerazzurri understood to be willing to use Ricardo Quaresma in part-exchange.
Chelsea had supposedly been closing in on capturing the 21-year-old striker, readying a £40million move for his services in the January transfer window.
However, the player denied he was ready to leave Los Colchoneros, despite their poor start to the season, and committed himself to the Vicente Calderon stadium at least until the end of the current campaign.
By that time Carlo Ancelotti's side could be under a FIFA imposed transfer embargo, meaning they would be unable to sign anyone until the summer of 2011.
These revelations have alerted Jose Mourinho to the possibility of taking 'Kun' to Serie A, and according to Tuttosport, the 'Special One' will make a move for him after the World Cup finals, offering big-money plus Quaresma in exchange.
The report claims Atletico are very interested in the Portuguese winger, who has been on the periphery of Mourinho's team since he arrived from Porto in the summer of 2008 for £17million.
Aguero could also be tempted to the San Siro by his father-in-law and Argentina national team coach Diego Maradona, who has repeatedly told his daughter's husband that it would be in his best interests to join Inter.
Maradona, who is good friends with Inter president Massimo Moratti, said in January of this year: "I believe that the possibilities are there (for Aguero to join Inter).
"He would be very happy.
"My advice? I'd say go to Inter!"
