In honour of Paul Robinson's awesome save from the usually clinical Michael Ballack in Blackburn's penalty shootout triumph over Chelsea in the Carling Cup, ExtraFootie recalls some other class spot-kick saves.
1: Paul Robinson - Ballack's penalty wasn't quite as emphatic as his famous strike against Werder Bremen some years ago, but it was destined for the corner until the Rovers keeper one-handedly pushed it round the post at full stretch.
Catch the save at 4:54 in the clip below.
2:Gianluigi Buffon - Generally regarded as one of the best keepers in the world, he sured proved his stock with this remarkable and crucial spot-kick save from Adrian Mutu in the 2006 World Cup. Forza Buffon indeed!
3: Jorge Campos - A classic from the 90s now as the legendary Mexican shot-stopper shows why he was famous for more than his eccentric choice of jerseys with a fantastic stop from Bulgaria's Krassimir Balakov in the last 16 of the 1994 World Cup.
4: Mladen Petric - The most clinical save of the lot here, and its from an outfield player. After Basel custodian Franco Costanzo was shown a red card, striker Petric (now at Hamburg) took up the gloves and impressively clung on to the resulting spot-kick.
And finally...
5:Vincenzo Sicignano - It may look super cool when you get it right, but Francesco Totti proves here that the old chipped penalty down the middle looks pretty silly if the keeper doesn't move!
