AS Roma captain Francesco Totti has agreed a new deal with the Giallorossi that will keep him at the Stadio Olimpico for the rest of his playing days.
The talismanic 33-year-old has been involved in lengthy contract talks with his boyhood club for months, but has now finally settled on a deal which will keep in the Eternal City until he hangs up his boots.
'Il Capitano' has spent his entire career with Roma, becoming the club's all-time appearance record holder not to mention highest goal-scorer in the club's illustrious history.
The news is sure to be welcomed by Giallorossi coach Claudio Ranieri as he seeks to lead the capital club into a UEFA Champions League spot.
"We signed the papers and are just waiting for Roma to deposit it," Totti told Sportal.it.
"The club will decide when to do that. We are waiting for the right moment."
Meanwhile, Totti has dropped the biggest hint yet that he is ready to return to the Italy national team after 'retiring' in 2006 ahead of next summer’s World Cup finals, where Marcello Lippi's men will seek to defend the Jules Rimet trophy.
"Everybody is talking about this but in the end (coach Marcello) Lippi and I will make the decision," the five-times Italian Footballer of the Year said. "I like the fact that Lippi talks well about me, we always had a great relationship on and off the pitch.
"March or April will be the decisive month to see how I feel," he added.
