Through the years there have been some memorable moments in the game of football, Van Basten's volley, Hurst's hat-trick, Liverpool's comeback and of course Delia Smith's "Let's be 'avin you!" speech.
However, there is nothing on this earth that makes the football fan realise just how much he/she loves this game then seeing a gloriously improbable own goal, as long as it isn't against your team of course!
This week has seen Hull's Kamil Zayatte and Arsenal's Thomas Vermaelen accidentally find the back of their own net, with Zayatte's in particular coming from a truly world class lob over keeper Matt Duke.
To remind you just how funny own goals can be, ExtraFootie has found a video heralding the top ten greatest own goals of all time.
Now I'm sure you'll agree, those were just fabulous. However, they pale in comparison to another video we found of what may well be the greatest own goal of all time.
Before you watch it we should probably tell you that it comes from a youth team game in America (I'd estimate the players are not much older than eight, but then neither is Theo Walcott!).
However, what makes this goal so special is the continued shouting from the sidelines of 'throw it! throw it!' and...well...see for yourself.
Doesn't it just warm your heart to see own goals like that, and also kind of want it to happen to a Premier League goalkeeper in the near future...David James is overdue a mistake.
And don't worry about the little girl who scored the OG, I hear she's still been voted the fifth best goalkeeper in the US!
