The agent of Tottenham outcast Roman Pavlyuchenko has revealed he will be meeting with officials of Serie A side AS Roma in the coming days in an attempt to seal a move for his client in the New Year.
The Russian striker has made no secret of his desire to seal a move away from White Hart Lane having slipped behind Robbie Keane, Peter Crouch and Jermain Defoe in the pecking order.
The 27-year-old, who joined Spurs in a £13.8million deal in 2008, is yet to start a Premier League game this term with his only goal coming in the Carling Cup at Doncaster in August.
Initially, Pavlyuchenko was hunting for a move in order to gain first-team football ahead of next summer's World Cup, and despite Russia failing to qualify for the tournament the player is still eager to leave.
His agent Oliver Wendt has admitted his client has his heart set on a move to the Stadio Olimpico, and he will investigate the possibility of a January move when he meets officials in the Italian capital in the next couple of days.
"We're meeting Roma today or tomorrow for Roman," Wendt told Romagiallorossa.com. "Roman wants to leave London and he wants to go to Roma. If Tottenham allow him to go, Roman could be a Roma player.
"Everything depends on the meeting we will have today or tomorrow with Roma.
"I had contact with the Roma directors last week too and they showed they were interested."
Liverpool, Zenit St. Petersburg and Spartak Moscow were also believed to be interested in the striker, though it seems a move to Italy is on the cards for Pavlyuchenko.
