Ligue 1 VIDEO Round-Up: RC Lens 1-0 Olympique Marseille

An injury time header by RC Lens striker Eduardo dos Santos settled a pulsating match at the Stade Flelix Bollaert as the home side upset title challengers Olympique Marseille.

Despite l'OM goalkeeper Steve Mandanda's heroics between the sticks, having produced a string of saves as well as saving a second-half penalty, the home side were not to be denied as Eduardo rose to head home the winner in the 93rd minute.

Marseille went into the match somewhat buoyed by their impressive showing against AC Milan at the San Siro in midweek where Didier Deschamps' men picked up a credible 1-1 draw in their UEFA Champions League clash.

However, a match in the fashion capital and a cold winter night in the north of France are two entirely different entities and when Lens striker Toifilou Maoulida tested Mandanda early on, the visitors knew that they were in for 'one of those nights'.

The hosts sought to take advantage of a sloppy l'OM display and continued to play at a frenetic pace throughout the first half and into the second.

Their 'in your face' style of play paid dividends when in the 60th minute les Sang et Or's marauding veteran full-back Yohan Demont was upended in the box with the referee wasting no time in pointing to the spot.

However, Demont was to be denied from 12 yards as the superb Mandanda dived to his left to keep the scores level at 0-0.

L'OM continued to struggle against Lens' ferocity and guile with Fernando Morientes receiving little service from the likes of Benoit Cheyrou and Lucho Gonzalez, who were overran by the fantastic Kanga Akale and Alaeddine Yahia.

Lens secured their third consecutive win in the the third minute of stoppage time when Eduardo headed home Sebastein Roudet pinpoint free-kick to the delight of the passionate home support.

The defeat sees Marseille drop to seventh in the table on 22 points, six behind leaders Bordeaux, who thumped AS Nancy 3-0, while Lyon remain second despite being held 1-1 by Rennes.
