Frustrated Mourinho set for Prem return?

Inter Milan coach Jose Mourinho has revealed the extent of his frustrations at life in Serie A, fuelling speculation that the ‘Special One’ is ready to return to the Premier League.

Mourinho made a hasty exit from the English top-flight when he left Chelsea ‘through mutual consent’ in September 2007.

The Portuguese coach quickly got back into his managerial groove when he when he replaced Roberto Mancini as Inter Milan coach in 2008.

Although the ‘Special One’ led the Nerazzurri to their fourth consecutive Scudetto last season, his time in Italy has been far from ideal having been involved in prickly bust-ups with other managers, pundits and former players who have lambasted his perceived arrogance.

Inter Milan are currently red-hot favourites to claim an unprecedented fifth straight Scudetto this season although in Europe the Nerazzurri have been far from convincing, with Tuesday night’s 2-0 defeat at Barcelona leaving elimination as a real possibility.

The former Chelsea boss still has 18 months left to run on his contract, although it is believed that if Inter fail to negotiate the first hurdle in Europe’s elite cup competition, then the 47-year-olds tenure as boss could be over.

Mourinho has always talked about his love for the English game and would relish a return back to his old stomping ground.

His admission will send Liverpool owners Tom Hicks and George Gillet on red-alert as they look to oust coach Rafa Benitez after an horrendous start to the season.

Likewise, Manchester Ciy boss Mark Hughes’ future as City boss is in jeopardy after a seventh consecutive draw on Saturday at home to Hull.

Speaking to the Portuguese newspaper Record, the 46 year-old admitted that he is missing the perks the Premier League offered him.

"I prefer to enjoy the capacity and health that God has given me to live to the limit the passion I have for high-level football,” he said.

"That's what I experienced in England and will continue to experience when I return to England or maybe have a new opportunity in Spain.

"It's true that I still say what I think. I call it honesty, authenticity, being up-front. In this respect I've not changed anything. I've always been like that.

Jose also revealed his dismay at how he is treated by fellow coaches in Italy.

"The case of coaches is symptomatic. There are 20 of us in Serie A - 18 are Italian, one is half Italian and half Brazilian (AC Milan's Leonardo) and the other is a foreigner,” he moaned.

"When they vote for the coach of the year in a month's time, voted for by the coaches themselves, it doesn't seem that I'll win. Perhaps I'll even be last.

"Perhaps I'll have to vote for myself to get a vote. It can't even be two votes any more, because Walter Zenga, who is an Inter man and my friend, left Palermo."
