Guti learning English ahead of Premier League switch?

Reports are claiming that Real Madrid vice captain Guti is learning English in preparation for a move to England, with Manchester United and Manchester City both apparently interested.

Like Los Blanocs club captain Raul, Guti has spent his entire career at the Santiago Bernabeu, but unlike his team-mate, he has found appearances hard to come by this season in the light of Real's lavish summer spending.

The 33-year-old midfielder has started just five games all season, and has not featured since being hauled off at half-time during Real's humiliating 4-0 Copa del Rey defeat by Segunda B minnows Alcorcon last month

It is suggested that he had a dressing row with Los Merengues' Chilean coach Manuel Pellegrini, apparently insulting the Chilean tactician and earning himself a lengthy suspension for his outburst.

He has been ruled out of 'El Clasico' with a thigh strain, but the injury is said only to be masking the deeper tension currently ensuing between Guti and his coach, leading to suggestion of his possible exit from his boyhood club.

A move to Old Trafford seems highly unlikely, as United already have their fair share of fading stars in midfield, while City boss Mark Hughes has got bigger fish to fry than the temperamental Guti.

Despite this, Spanish magazine AS insists that the star has been taking weekly English lessons from a tutor in order to brush up on the lingo ahead of a mooted move to the Premier League.

ExtraFootie reckons Blackburn or Everton would be a more likely destination, while Guti has also had interest from the Middle East, and may scrap the English idea in favour of a potentially lucrative move to Qatar.
