Barcelona midfielder Xavi has lauded his team's performance against Inter Milan on Tuesday night and affirmed his belief that the Catalans are, and were, 'completely superior' their Italian counterparts.
Goals by defender Gerard Pique and wing wizard Pedro sealed a comfortable 2-0 win for Pep Guardiola's men, despite being without first choice striking duo Lionel Messi and Zlatan Ibrahimovic.
Inter were consummately outplayed throughout the 90 minutes and only had a wayward Thiago Motta header deep in the second half to show for their efforts.
Speaking after the game, Barca's midfield maestro Xavi toasted a dominate performance and La Blaugrana's superiority.
"We were completely superior to Inter. We dominated the game and always believed in ourselves," he told the club's official website.
"Looking at it, it was a great performance.
"The team overcame the lay-offs and have shown what an extraordinary squad we have here," he added.
The win puts the holders firmly on course to book their place in the last 16 and Barcelona's pass master believes that the victory will also give them the perfect lift going into Sunday night's grand 'El Clasico' with Real Madrid.
"This win has helped regain a positive vibe and now we can look to Madrid. We can show against them that we can win and win well," the 29-year-old said.
