Bayern Munich striker Luca Toni has expressed his desire to leave Allianz Arena and return to Italy in the New Year, with his relationship with coach Louis van Gaal 'non-existant'.
The 32-year-old has been a peripheral figure at the Bavarian giants since the Dutchman took over in the summer, and Toni appears to have finally lost patience.
Having fallen behind Miroslav Klose, Mario Gomez and Ivica Olic in the pecking order, Toni is ready to leave, hoping to obtain first-team football ahead of next summer's World Cup finals in South Africa.
The former Fiorentina hitman has been linked with a move to Premier League outfit West Ham in the past, but it seems he has his heart set on a move back to his native Italy.
"It's been four months that I have had problems with him (Van Gaal)," Toni explained to Rai TV.
"Enough is enough. Our rapport is almost non-existent…"
When asked if he would consider remaining at the Bundesliga giants should Van Gaal be sacked, he said:
"I don’t know about that, but I wish Bayern well.
"I'd like to go back to Italy to score those goals that would bring me back into the national team. After all, I am still the striker who has netted more goals than anyone for the Azzurri.
Toni was then asked whether the Eternal City and a switch to Roma was a possible destination for him.
"Roma? I do have a good relationship with Totti…"
