Beckham confirms Premier League offers

David Beckham has revealed he had options to return to the Premier League in January before opting for a second spell with his 'first choice' club AC Milan in the MLS close season.

The 34-year-old had his sights set on another spell in Europe ever since he left the San Siro following a highly successful five-month loan move earlier this year, and is now confirmed to be rejoining the Rossoneri in the New Year.

Beckham hopes that the move will stand him in good stead to secure his place in Fabio Capello's World Cup squad, with the Italian making no secret that he wants his players playing regular first-team football.

However, while the former Real Madrid and Manchester United star is relieved to have secured a return to the fashion capital, he admitted he was faced with other options before opting for Serie A once more.

"There were options there. But I always said that when I left Milan, if I had the chance to go back, I would go back there," he told Sky Sports News.

"If they wanted me, I would go back there. That was always my No.1 choice, if I had a choice.

"
I am honoured that they want me and I can't wait to go back."

When asked whether he had had offers from English clubs, Beckham confirmed, "there was a couple," but refused to name names, although it is believed Tottenham, Blackburn and Chelsea were amongst his potential suitors.

Beckham plays his final Los Angeles Galaxy game of the year on Sunday when Bruce Arena's side take on Real Salt Lake for the MLS Cup 2009 at the Seattle Sounders' Qwest Field.
