VfL Wolfsburg's highly-rated hitman Edin Dzeko has spoken of his desire to quit the Volkswagen Arena next summer for a move to boyhood idols AC Milan.
The 23-year-old is among the most sought-after frontmen in European football following his stunning exploits with Wolfsburg last season - netting 26 goals league goals to help the club land their first ever Bundesliga title.
He was linked with a summer move to a host of top clubs, with Arsenal, Chelsea, Manchester United and the Rossoneri all believed to be tracking his availability.
Despite Milan entering into negotiations for the Bosnia international, a transfer failed to materialise and he remained in Germany, where he has continued to impress with nine goals in 15 appearances in all competitions.
Dzeko is, however, keen to take on a fresh challenge next summer and has already warned Wolfsburg of his intentions with a switch to the San Siro and to the club he supported as a boy his preferred destination.
"I recently spoke to Wolfsburg executives about it and they know that I would like a transfer next summer," Dzeko told Gazzetta dello Sport.
"The story with AC Milan is not over."
United boss Sir Alex Ferguson is believed to be a hude admirer of the former FK Teplice hitman and, according to the Manchester Evening News, is lining up a big-money offer in January, but Dzeko has made his intentions clear.
"Manchester (United) have also shown an interest?" he continued
"I have been a fan of Milan since I was a child, when I watched their games on TV.
"It's for that reason that I really hope I can play next season there."
