Everton's sidelined skipper Phil Neville is confident that his side can avenge the 5-0 demolition at the hands of Benfica two weeks ago when the Portuguese giants travel to Goodison on Thursday.
David Moyes' injury ravaged side were torn apart in the Estádio da Luz a fortnight ago, as an Angel Di Maria-inspired Benfica side put five past the Toffees, dramatically ending their unbeaten run in the UEFA Europa League.
Everton were without eleven players who might have feasibly started the tie that night, and despite still being without several key players, and not having won in six outings, Neville believes that Moyes' side can win in midweek.
"It is good that the game has come round quickly after the defeat over in Portugal," he told the club's official website.
"The score-line was flattering to Benfica and we all believed that if we'd have travelled there with a few more experienced players then we'd of given them a game and beaten them. We do fancy our chances at Goodison."
Neville is still out of action with a knee injury sustained two weeks into September, while David Moyes will again be without long term casualties Phil Jagielka, Mikel Arteta and Steven Pienaar for the clash.
Benfica's Argentine winger Angel Di Maria has meanwhile been attracting attention from a range of top European clubs since his match-winning performance, with Chelsea said to be considering a £15million bid.
Everton remain second in Europa League Group I, level on six points with their Portuguese rivals, and Neville is looking forward to what he reckons will be one of those classic European nights.
"Benfica at Goodison is the type of game everybody wants to play in because they are a massive club.
"They have got World-class players and I know it will be one of those special nights," he concluded.
