Bayern Munich outcast Luca Toni has expressed an interest in joining Serie A outfit Napoli when the transfer window opens in January.
The 32-year-old striker has fallen out of favour with coach Louis Van Gaal at the Allianz Arena, and currently finds himself fifth in the pecking order behind Miroslav Klose, Ivica Olic, Mario Gomez and young sensation Thomas Muller.
Despite scoring 38 goals in 56 Bundesliga games for the Bavarian side, he has made just one substitute appearance so far this season after recovering from an Achilles tendon injury, and feels he needs to move on to cement his place in Italy's 2010 World Cup squad.
Toni has intimated that he has already spoken to Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis about a possible switch to the Stadio San Paolo, and is excited about what he has heard.
"Napoli is an important club and they have great fans," he told Italian radio station Kiss Kiss.
"Club president Aurelio De Laurentiis has big ideas so we shall see what happens. It's still early days."
He also spoke about the potential of playing with current Partenopei strikers Fabio Quagliarella and Ezequiel Lavezzi.
"Quagliarella and Lavezzi are two great strikers," he added.
"Together with them I would feel great and we would make up a very good attacking trio."
Toni has previously been linked with AC Milan, Tottenham and West Ham, though he appears to favour a move to the Naples club.
The Serie A side are under new management after former Italy coach Roberto Donadoni was sacked on Tuesday and replaced by former Sampdoria boss Walter Mazzarri.
