AC Milan are reportedly lining up a double swoop for strikers Edin Dzeko and Luca Toni in the January transfer window after a poor start to the season.
The Rossoneri have struggled in the opening months of the campaign, having lost 1-0 at home to Swiss minnows FC Zurich in the UEFA Champions League and stumbled to 12th in the Serie A table after seven games.
Now it appears coach Leonardo is blaming his mis-firing strikers for the lack of form, with Alexander Pato, Fillipo Inzaghi, Marco Borriello and Klaas Jan-Huntelaar all lacking sharpness up front.
According to La Gazzetta Dello Sport, Milan are ready to re-open negotiations with German champions VfL Wolfsburg over the potential acquisition of star striker Edin Dzeko.
The Bosnian was on the verge of a move to the San Siro over the summer, but the two clubs failed to agree on a fee, with Milan reportedly unwilling to go above €23million (£21.2m).
However, the 23-year-old, who scored 26 goals in the Bundesliga last season, is back on the Milan hit-list, as is veteran Italy forward Luca Toni.
The Bayern Munich striker has fallen out of favour at the Allianz Arena, with coach Louis Van Gaal preferring Miroslav Klose, Ivica Olic and Mario Gomez ahead of the 32-year-old.
Toni netted an impressive 97 goals in his previous spells in Serie A with Palermo and Fiorentina, and would no doubt welcome a move to Milan in a bid to keep his place in Marcello Lippi's Italy squad ahead of the World Cup next summer.
Both players have also been linked with moves to Premier League in recent times, with Dzeko reportedly interesting Arsenal, while Toni has been watched closely by nd West Ham and Tottenham.
