ExtraFootie Scout: Alan Dzagoev - VIDEO

ExtraFootie's scout leaves no stone unturned in his quest for the "next big thing," with the focus this week on the freezing cold of Moscow where a teenage playmaker is making big waves with army club CSKA.

His name is Alan Dzagoev and he is a 19-year-old playmaker who despite his tender years is already a regular for club and country and is tipped to become the "new Andrey Arshavin".

Born and brought up in the the Caucasian town of Beslan, infamous for the school massacre by Chechnyan terrorists in 2004, Dzagoev made his name in the Russian second division at the age of 16 before he was snapped up by CSKA in December 2007.

Initially brought to the club as a player for the future rather than the present, Dzagoev shone whenever he took to the field and soon established himself as a first-team regular, crowning his first season in Moscow by being named the league's best young player in 2008.

International recognition soon followed as Dzagoev became Russia's youngest ever outfield debutant, aged 18 and four months, in the World Cup qualifier against Germany in October of that year.

Since then the youngster with the world at his feet has gone from strength to strength, remaining firmly in national coach Guus Hiddink's plans and becoming a permanent fixture at club level.

Dzagoev is a big fan of Frank Lampard and like the Chelsea man he can frequently be found making late runs into the box to get on the end of crosses.

However, he is not really a Lampard-style box-to-box midfielder but more an advanced playmaker who sits just behind the strikers, similar to former national team legend Alexander Mostovoi or current star Andrey Arshavin.

Blessed with exquisite touch and vision, Dzagoev is deadly in the hole, equally able to bring his team-mates into play with precise passes or make runs off his frontmen and go for goal himself.

As strong as he is quick, Dzagoev also possesses natural flair and a fearsome goalscoring ability, as his brilliant solo goal against Besiktas in the UEFA Champions League on Wednesday typified.

Dzagoev is already being tipped for a move West to one of the giants of the European game, with Real Madrid, Chelsea and Manchester United among possible destinations for the precocious talent.

Arsenal too might be a good fit for the wonderkid, where he would fit perfectly into manager Arsene Wenger's ethos and would settle in quickly thanks to the presence of national side team mate Arshavin in the Gunners ranks.

Wherever he ends up though, Dzagoev looks set to be one of the stars of the next decade.
