2009-08-08 - Added by JamDav1982 I would agree that so far Barry and Valencia look like the best value signings of what has been a fairly uninspiring summer of transfers. Hopefully this changes when Madrid an d City put their cash back in the vaults, and the market calms down.
Barry for Man City or Johnson for Liverpool for me could be influential.
Barry could be the catalyst in midfield to start of all Man City's moves. They now have quailty players added this summer too so they are bound to be a threat to the top four. Although i must stress threat as I dont think they will be ready to win the league.
Johnson for Liverpool will give them a different dimension to last season. All too many times they were defensive so with Johnson it cant not be more attacking. Although you would never think a full back is gonna win you a match, think he might just add something they were missing. Again though, with Alonso gone and still failing to add to any quality cover for Torres and Gerrard, a full season is too much to rely on them being injury free, the likes of Tevez would have been ideal so I am glad they never got him.
My hope is that I am wrong with both above and its Valencia at Man u, obviously no-one will replace ronaldo directly but we wont need to, we'll be playing a different way in formation & tactics, hopefully though it remains a winning way!

Well, I have to say Glen Johnson and Darren Bent are prob my top signings so far! Bent will score close to 20 golas if he plays every week I'd say! 15 goals last season and never played! If him and Jones can hit it off, not many centre halfs will like playing against them! Johnson will bring an extra attacking dimension to liverpools right wing with Kuyt tending to drift in! However will rafa allow him to bomb forward like he is used too!?
Suprised Utd have not purchased any more players! However I feel Liverpool selling Alonso could be a massive blow to their title hopes, aqualini could struggle to adapt and understand he has a poor injury record! I feel Alonso had his best season yet last season and for me was my vote for player of the year, much more warranted than giggs. He is an established premiership player and it could be a risk as I don't see Lieva filling the void if gerrard and aqualini are injured!
