Wolves boss Mick McCarthy is reportedly considering a £3million move for Derby County's much-travelled hitman Rob Hulse in the January transfer window.
McCarthy is big admirer of Hulse's talents and according to the Daily Mirror believes the 30-year-old could be the man to bring goals to his shot-shy attack at Molineux as the club face a fight for their Premier League survival.
Derby boss Nigel Clough is ready to let Hulse leave in order to raise money for his own transfer moves in the New Year with Plymouth Argyle striker Jamie Mackie his No.1 target.
Mackie has proved a huge hit at Home Park after joining them from Exeter City and it is thought he would relish a switch to Pride Park, with Clough ready to splash out £1million on his services.
Hulse returned from injury at the weekend to score the winner as the Rams secured a vital three points against 10-men Reading following Shane Long's straight red.
It was Hulse's six goal of the season and it followed a brace he scored in the Rams' previous home game - a 2-1 win over Coventry City - and has led McCarthy to seriously consider making a big-money offer.
However, with Kevin Doyle, Sylvain Ebanks-Blake, Stefan Maierhofer, Chris Iwelumo and Andy Keogh already on the books at Molineux, McCathy may be forced to sell before he can buy come January 1st.
