Premier League new boys Wolves have completed the £2million signing of 6ft 7in Austrian hitman Stefan Maierhofer from Rapid Vienna.
Maierhofer, who scored 23 goals in 37 games for Rapid last season, has put pen-to-paper on a three-year-deal at Molineux with the possibility of a further one-year extension.
Mick McCarthy's men have scored just twice in their opening
four games and so the arrival of the profilic Austria international, who had a brief spell at Bayern Munich earlier in his career,
will add some welcome firepower up front.
The capture of Maierhofer, 27, follows hot on the heels of the season-long loan signing of Ecuador international midfielder Segundo Castillio from Red Star Belgrade.
Wolves chief executive Jez Moxey has expressed his delight at capturing Maierhofer's prized signature and thanked chairman Steve Morgan for his continued financial support.
"We are delighted to bring Stefan in as our ninth new arrival this summer," he told the club's official website.
"He is a player who has been a regular goalscorer for Rapid Vienna in recent seasons and helped the club qualify for the Europa League by contributing to their win against Aston Villa last week.
"Stefan had been targeted by Mick to add competition for places in the striking department, and once again we are pleased that the board and chairman Steve Morgan have been able to support the manager."
Maierhofer and Castillo could make their debuts after the international break when Wolves take on Blackburn Rovers on September 12th.
