Wigan Athletic's defiant boss Roberto Martinez believes the crushing 9-1 defeat at the hands of Tottenham Hotspur last weekend has made him 'bulletproof' as a manager.
Martinez has watched a recording of last weekend's humiliation at White Hart Lane on no less than 10 occasions this week meaning he will have seen Spurs put almost 100 goals past his team in the past seven days.
Despite the morale sapping defeat, Martinez has insisted he and his Latics side are determined to bounce back from their woeful showing starting with a performance against Sunderland on Saturday. "It makes me more determined, I've got certain beliefs and they are very strong. I'm probably bulletproof after what happened at Tottenham. If I can get through that I'll be immune for the next 20 years," Martinez said speaking at a press conference. "I've seen people mentioning humiliation in terms of the scoreline," he added. "You're only humiliated if you don't react in the right way and grow out of the situation.
"But I've been pleased with the reaction from the players to make sure it never happens again. They are desperate to get on the pitch and show the fans they want to put things right."
