Wigan Atheltic boss Roberto Martinez has called on his players to forget the whole Marlon King affair and focus on the Latics' upcoming Premier League games, starting with Fulham on Sunday.
It has been a tumultuous past seven days at the DW Stadium after former striker King was jailed for 18 months after being found guilty of sexually assaulting a 20-year-old female student and causing actual bodily harm.
The 29-year-old, who punched the youn girl in the face after she rejected his advances, was sacked by the Latics as a result of his imprisonment, and Martinez is now looking to draw a line under the whole unsavoury incident.
"In football there are certain situations that you need to make sure you assess, you learn from and you move forward," Martinez told Sky Sports News.
"Obviously it is a drastic situation when you lose a player in those circumstances, but there is nothing we can do.
"We need to in the dressing room focus on the games we have got ahead.
"In that respect unfortunately it is quite clear you need to focus on the next game and get everyone together around that.
"Certain situations in football you can't control and certain things you have to make sure you move forward on."
