It seems that the Latics boss will be leaving his former club Swansea with at least one of their stars, as top defender Angel Rangel has had no contact with the Spaniard.
Having left the Liberty Stadium on a sour note, the
Wigan supremo vowed not to return to South Wales to raid his former squad. But he's gone and done just that by signing attackers Jordi Gomez and Jason Scotland. He's also been linked with Dutch ace Ferrie Bodde.
But one player who seems to have escaped his attentions is the £3million rated Spanish stopper Angel Rangel, who Martinez brought to The Liberty from Catalan side
Terrassa in 2007.
The versatile defender, 26, was a key man for The Swans under Martinez's guidance and has made over 70 league appearances for the Welsh outfit.
But Rangel has had no contact with his former boss, and appears a bit miffed that he has taken all his other key team mates with him to the DW Stadium. However, he was hopeful that there might be further developments over the course of the summer.
“I wish him all the best but, to be honest, I did think he would ring
to say he wanted to take me with him, " he tolld
Wales on Sunday.
"That didn’t happen so I am just
focused on Swansea now.
There’s still time for him to call and the summer is always unpredictable in football."
