Ex-Swansea boss Roberto Martinez is hoping to continue his raid on his former club with The Swans' star midfield man Ferrie Bodde next on his hitlist.
Having already secured the services of Jordi Gomez who spent last year on loan at The Liberty Stadium, from
Espanyol, Martinez has now turned his attention to the no-nonsense Dutch midfield man.
The 27-year-old arrived at
Swansea in 2007 for a nominal fee of £50,000 from Holland based ADO Den Haag, and was a crucial part of the Swans promotion from League One to the Championship in 2007/8.
He appeared 50 times for the South Wales side in his two years there but missed a huge chunk of last season with a serious injury. But now, as he regains fitness the Spanish manager wants to bring him to the Premier League with The Latics.
A fee of £5million is thought to be the stumbling block.
Swansea are understood to have agreed a 50% sell-on clause for any profit made on Bodde in future transfers with Den Haag. So it appears that chairman Huw Jenkins has slapped a more-than-hefty price tag on the player. He says however, that no official approaches have been made for the player.
"I'm fully aware of the speculation, but there has been no official offer," he said.
Martinez faces competition for the box-to-box midfielder from other Premier League outfits also with Gary Megson's
Bolton also eager to capture his signature.
