Tottenham full-back Benoit Assou-Ekotto will face a police investigation after an altercation with a fan in the aftermath of Spurs' defeat to Wolves on Saturday.
The incident capped off a dreadful afternoon for Harry Redknapp's men, who despite dominating possession, and creating a number of chances were undone by a early Kevin Doyle strike.
Assou-Ekotto was unable to contain his frustration at the final whistle and turned to confront a visibly agitated fan who was sitting to the left of the Spurs dugout.
As matters escalated, Tottenham assistant Joe Jordan was forced to separate the two before leading the Cameroon international down the tunnel to safety.
But there will now be a police investigation, a spokesperson has confirmed.
"The police are investigating an allegation of assault following
yesterday's Spurs v Wolves Premier League match at White Hart Lane.
