Tottenham defender Benoit Assou-Ekotto was involved in an unsavoury incident with a fan following his team's defeat to Wolves at White Hart Lane.
The Cameroon international was eventually hauled away from the clash by Spurs assistant boss Joe Jordan, who then ushered an animated Assou-Ekotto down the tunnel.
It capped a thoroughly miserable afternoon for The Lillywhites, who failed to sparkle infront of their home fans and went down to a third minute goal from Wolves forward Kevin Doyle.
The loss means Spurs failed to overtake fierce rivals Arsenal in the league, and may surrender their place in the top four, should Aston Villa defeat Manchester United at Old Trafford.
Assou-Ekotto failed to compose himself as he confronted the angry fan, sat to the left of the Spurs dug-out at the conclusion of the game. Thankfully Jordan's intervention prevented the incident from escalating, but there is sure to be an internal investigation into the defender's conduct.
A second successive win for Wolves means that they are now out of the relegation zone.
