Tottenham Hotspur misfit Roman Pavlyuchenko has once again reiterated his desire to end his nightmare at White Hart Lane and has admitted he longs for a return to his homeland.
The 27-year-old Russia international joined Spurs in a £13.8million deal from Spartak Moscow in 2008, and much was expected languid striker after he impressed for his country during Euro 2008.
However, he has struggled to make an impact in the Premier League and following the arrivals of Jermain Defoe, Robbie Keane and Peter Crouch has now found himself at the bottom of boss Harry Redknapp's pecking order.
Russia coach Guus Hiddink has made it clear to Pavlyuchenko that he must be playing regular first-team football if he is to make his World Cup squad, providing of course they successfully negotiate their wat past Slovenia in the play-offs.
And the hitman concedes his time is up in North London and has set his sights on a return to his homeland, with former club Spartak and Zenit St Petersburg both understood to be keen on offering him an escape route. "I have a huge desire to return home," he told a Russian magazine, according to skysports.com. "I'm prepared to accept any decent offer from Russia.
"It seems Tottenham is now a turned page for me. "I don't expect the situation to change for the better. Six months ago, I landed on the bench. I immediately made it clear I did not want to be there.
"The manager kept saying he relied on me, but nothing changed. I need to find a way out of this."
