Former Arsenal ace Julio Baptista has been mooted for a return to the Premier League with Tottenham Hotspur, although the Roma hitman's agent has denied there is any truth in the rumours.
The 28-year-old spent the 2006-07 season on loan at the Emirates Stadium from Real Madrid, and was keen to extend his stay in England, but Gunners boss Arsene Wenger opted against signed the Brazilian permanently.
Since then he has secured a move to AS Roma, but after a decent first season with the Giallorossi, has failed to start a single Serie A game this campaign under the guidance of former Chelsea boss Claudio Ranieri.
Spurs boss Harry Redknapp was reportedly interested in bringing 'The Beast' to White Hart Lane in the summer, and with his position at the Stadio Olimpico not having improved in the meantime, a January move was thought to be on the cards.
However, Baptista's agent Herminio Menendez has dimissed the reports and insists his client wants to remain in the Eternal City and fight for his first-team place. "There is no truth in these reports claiming he is set for an exchange in January," he told romannews.eu. "Julio is currently away with the national side. Everything he has said points to a future in Rome."
