Tottenham boss Harry Redknapp is reportedly keen to sign out of favour Manchester United goalkeeper Ben Foster in a £6million deal in January.
Foster, who started for England in their 1-0 defeat to Brazil on Saturday, now he finds himself No.3 in the pecking order at Old Trafford behind Edwin Van der Sar and Tomasz Kuszczak.
The 26-year-old began the season as the Red Devils' No. 1, but failed to grasp his opportunity after a number of high-profile blunders, most notably in the dramatic Manchester derby and in United's 2-2 draw with Sunderland.
Foster, who spent two seasons on loan at Watford between 2005 and 2007, has conceded that he may have to quit the Premier League champions in order to keep his place in Fabio Capello's England squad ahead of next summer's World Cup finals.
"It's very disheartening not even being on the bench at United.
I'm third choice for United yet playing for my country. It's a weird
one and I'll see what happens," Foster said on Monday.
Spurs manager Redknapp is a confirmed admirer of Foster and is seeking a new keeper as Carlo Cudicini is unlikely to play again this season after fracturing both wrists and his pelvis in a motorbike accident last week.
Meanwhile, the unpredictability of Brazilian Heurelho Gomes between the sticks has also led 'Arry to consider a swoop for Foster as he looks for his side to sustain a serious challenge for a top four spot this season.
Foster is reluctant to give up on his United dream just yet, but after four years at Old Trafford he may have to seriously consider the switch to White Hart Lane in order to further his career.
