Outspoken former Liverpool striker and newspaper columnist Stan Collymore has sensationally claimed that Tottenham goalkeeper Carlo Cudicini should, and will, be sacked following his motorbike crash.
Cudicini suffered what was described as 'potentially life-changing' injuries after he collided with a car while riding his BMW superbike in East London on Thursday.
While the former Chelsea custodian was inundated with messages of support from the football community, Collymore has chosen to condemn the 36-year-old’s actions.
"I want to wish Carlo Cudicini a speedy recovery but think he should and will be sacked for riding a motorbike,£ the Collymore wrote in his column for The Daily Mirror.
"I am absolutely stunned that a Premier League player decided to ride around London on a bike.
"And once Cudicini has recuperated, I would expect him to be moved on."
Collymore is renowned for his outspoken views since retiring from football 2001, while the striker also had a reputation as a controversial character during spells at Liverpool and Aston Villa.
Italian stopper Cudicini was signed by Harry Redknapp in January 2009, after ten years at Chelsea where he made over 200 appearances for the Stamford Bridge outfit.
The goalkeeper is expected to make a full recovery and should to be fully fit within 12 weeks.
Spurs boss Redknapp told BBC Sport after the accident: "We are all sorry to hear about what has happened to Carlo. We are just relieved that the injuries that he sustained in the accident weren't more serious."
Meanwhile, former Blues rival Peter Cech told his club's official website: "It is very sad but sometimes life brings unfortunate situations.
"I think that everybody should keep fingers crossed for him to get well soon."
