Tottenham line up James & Kranjcar

Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly preparing to launch a deadline day £8million bid for Portsmouth duo David James and Niko Kranjcar.

Spurs boss Harry Redknapp is a bid admirer of both players having worked with them during his time at Fratton Park and according to The Daily Mail is now keen to reunite with the again at White Hart Lane.

'Arry has already raided the South Coast outfit this summer having signed Peter Crouch fro £9million, while Jermain Defoe made the same switch back in the January transfer window.

James, 39, has jumped to the top of Redknapp's wanted list after first-choice No.1 Huerelho Gomes was sidelined with a thigh injury and will be hoping to finalise a switch to North London after becoming unsettled at Pompey.

The England goalkeeper is anxious to make sure his World Cup prospects are not damaged if Paul Hart's men continue to struggle and would jump at the chance to work under Redknapp, Kevin Bond and Joe Jordan once again.

Meanwhile, Spurs are also said to be keen on Croatian playmaker Kranjcar after his compatriot Luka Modric suffered a broken leg in the 2-1 win over Birmingham City on Saturday.

Kranjcar, 25, admitted recently that he intends to walk away from Pompey at the end of his contract in 12 months, therefore the club my decide, in light of their well documented financial problems, that it is more prudent to cash in on him now.

Redknapp is also understood to be considering Manchester City winger Martin Petrov and Real Madrid playmaker Rafael van der Vaart, should a move for Kranjcar failt to materialise within the next 24 hours.
