Spurs have Muntari bid rejected

Harry Redknapp has failed in his attempts to be reunited with Inter Milan midfielder Sulley Muntari, after the player's agent, Fabien Piveteau, revealed that the Nerazzurri have rejected a bid from Tottenham for the Ghanian enforcer.

The 24-year-old only moved to the San Siro last summer in an £8.5million deal from Portsmouth after spending one-year at Fratton Park under the guidance of Redknapp. However, after a frustrating time in Italy having failed to win over the majority of Inter fans speculation has been rife that Muntari would seek a move back to the Premier League this summer with White Hart Lane mooted as a possible destination.

Spurs boss Redknapp has gone on record in the past as praising Muntari as one of the best players he has ever worked with and is known to be in the market for a central midfield partner for Wilson Palacios during the close season which only seemed to exacerbate talk of a move.

And now the player's representative, Fabien Piveteau, has confirmed that a bid was lodged for his client and that despite the obvious attraction of working with his former mentor again insists that Muntari is happy at Inter after helping the club to their fourth straight Scudetto last month.

"There was an offer from Spurs but it was declined by Inter," he told the Daily Mail.

"Muntari still has four years left on his contract with Inter and he is happy to play there and win more things."

Muntari and Palacios

I think Muntari and Palacios would be a great midfield partnership. Tenacious and powerful - they would provide the perfect platform and allow more freedom to the likes of Luka Modric and Aaron Lennon to contribute in the attacking third.
