Sheffield Wednesday have parted company with boss Brian Laws by mutual consent, it has been confirmed today.
The under-fire Laws has been skating on thin ice for a number of weeks after a string of disappointing results for The Owls has left them locked in a relegation battle.
The Yorkshire outfit are without a win in the last nine games and sit just two places off the bottom of the league in 22nd place.
Large sections of the Hillsborough faithful have been calling for Laws' head after some decidedly below par displays in recent times.
He arrived at the club in 2006 but will be best remembered by fans for guiding The Owls to the season double over city rivals Sheffield United for the first time in 95 years, earlier this year.
Chairman Lee Strafford confirmed the departure:
"We believe a change at this time can deliver fresh energy and direction," said Strafford
