New Portsmouth boss Paul Hart has taken a quartet of stars on trial at Fratton Park as he looks to add to his threadbare squad ahead of the new Premier League season.Having been appointed as Pompey's new manager on a two-year contract on Tuesday, Hart has quickly set about reinforcing his playing staff with the season's curtain raiser at home against
Fulham just over three weeks away.
With a pool of just 19 players, three of which are goalkeepers, the former
Nottingham Forest boss is eager to strengthen all areas of his side, and with transfer funds believed to be at a premium Hart is having to work within the parameters set out by new chairman Sulaiman Al Fahim.
Cameroon international Modeste M'bami is one of the stars trying to impress Hart and featured against Havant & Waterlooville in a friendly on Tuesday.
The 26-year-old - who has nearly 30 caps for the Indomitable Lions - is available on a free transfer after leaving French giants
Marseille earlier this summer and is keen on a move to the South Coast outfit despite having offers in
France and Turkey.
Valenciennes striker Johan Audel, 25, is also training with the club in the hope of earning a permanent contract as is 29-year-old Paris St Germain left winger Fabrice Pancrate - who has already interested
Burnley this summer.
Finally, and possibly the most interesting name trying his luck with Pompey is German midfielder Eugene Bopp, who has spent the last three years playing in the lower leagues with
Rotherham and Crewe
The 25-year-old played under Hart at
Nottingham Forest and while he may not have the pedigree of the other trio, Bopp did his chances of earning a deal no harm on Tuesday as he scored both goals in their friendly clash at Havant.
