Portsmouth are today being linked with Argentinian dynamo Fernando Belluschi in a move to strengthen the depleted squad at Fratton Park.

A bid in the region of £7million is believed to be in the offing as Pompey seek to capture the Olympiakos based attacking midfielder. The 25-year-old playmaker is thought to be keen on a move to the Premier League to reignite his ailing international career.

Belluschi is without a cap for the Argentinian national team for over two years and is keen to prove his worth to coach Diego Maradona by plying his trade in the highly regarded English top flight.

The former River Plate man has appeared just twice for his country but is eager to gain more international experience. He has netted an impressive eight times in just over 30 games for the Greek side during his solitary season there.

But a move is stalling due to the current uncertainty at the south coast club who are without an owner at present. A proposed takeover by middle-eastern businessman Sulaiman Al Fahim has run into problems with legal issues regarding sole ownership under scrutiny by Premier League officials.
