Notts County director of football Sven Goran Eriksson is rumoured to be among those interested in buying out the League Two side, after owners Munto Finance put the club up for sale.
Eriksson is said to be considering a takeover bid alongside Magpies chairman Peter Trembling after Munto announced that it was looking to sell the club, and was already in contact with potential buyers.
The mysterious Munto collective, said to represent wealthy Middle-Eastern families, only bought the club themselves in July, vowing to make the Magpies a Championship side within five years.
They promised to invest millions of pounds in order to climb the Football League ladder, and a host of new players were immediately brought in to Meadow Lane, most notably former England defender Sol Campbell.
Eriksson himself accepted a lucrative contract to become the club's director of football, but County have frequently been in the headlines for a series of off-the-field incidents since the summer buy-out.
Campbell famously quit just three-weeks into his five-year deal under mysterious circumstances after only one game, and he was followed by Ian McParland, who left his post as manager in October with the club in the play-off positions.
Munto were only official ratified as owners by the Football League as late as October, while in November, the Magpies were investigated by the High Court over a six-figure sum accrued prior to the Munto takeover.
On Thursday monring BBC Radio Nottinghamshire confirmed that the Meadow Lane outfit was for sale, and that Eriksson and Trembling were among the interested parties.
"Notts County is on the market, Munto Finance are seeking to dispose of the club and are in contact with some potential buyers," County correspondent Colin Slater told the station.
"It is an option for Munto to consider that Eriksson and Trembling are in talks about a possible management buyout."
