Ambitious League Two outfit Notts County have confirmed they have handed a trial to former Juventus and Portugal defender Jorge Andrade - a player once valued at £8million!
The 31-year-old, who has also played for Porto and Deportivo La Coruna, was released by the Bianconeri in April after an injury plagued season, but could be set to pull on the black and white stripes again at Meadow Lane. "He is here. We will have to wait and see if anything can happen and give him a fair chance to show us what he can do," said new Magpies manager Hans Backe.
The centre-back, who has 51 caps for Portugal, has been handed a two-week trial and would become the latest signal of intent from the ambitious club should he sign permanently.
After appointing former England manager Sven Goran Eriksson to the role of director of football during the summer, they then signed Sol Campbell to a five-year deal, though the ex-Arsenal player left the club after just five weeks.
Reports last week suggested County had held talks with Roberto Mancini over the vacant manager's position before handing the role to Backe, and now the potential signing of Andrade brings up to date the League Two fairytale.
