Hans Backe claims he is close to agreeing a deal to become the new manager of ambitious League Two outfit Notts County after rejecting an approach to become the Sweden coach.
The Swede worked under compatriot and Magpies director of football Sven Goran Eriksson at both Manchester City and Mexico, and claims he is on his way to England to discuss the possibility of taking the managerial reigns at Meadow Lane.
"I'm flying to England this afternoon to meet with Notts County and to read through the contract, it's not decided yet, but everything points to it," Backe told Eurosport.
Backe won four Danish League titles with FC Copenhagen and Aalborg respectively and was in the running for the Sweden job after Lars Lagerback stepped down following his faiure to lead them to the World Cup finals next year.
That aside, it seems Backe, 57, will only take on the managerial role with County provided he receives assurances on a number of issues as he looks to take the club forward.
He added: "One of the reasons is that they just this week confirmed that there are now enough resources to continue to build this team. If everything gets settled right away I'm ready to take over immediately."
