Notts County's record signing Kasper Schmeichel appears to want to score goals as well as save them, after attempting a scissor kick in the final minutes of his side's 2-1 defeat to Morecambe on Saturday.

The Magpies broke their transfer record to bring Schmeichel to Meadow Lane in a £1.5million deal in August, with the 22-year-old linking up with his old Manchester City boss Sven-Goran Eriksson.

Tthe young custodian looks like he's been watching old re-runs of his father in action, after an audacious attempt to equalise for his side in the dying minutes of Sol Campbell's first and last appearance for the League Two outfit.

It was a case of like father, not quite like son however, as the footage below shows, with the wannabe No.9 blasting the ball over the bar.



The shot-stopper's father, Manchester United legend Peter Schmeichel, was famous for his last-minute forays into the opposition penalty area, managing eight goals in his native Denmark as well as this cracking volley for Aston Villa against Everton in 2001.



These Schmeichel's seem to be strikers trapped inside goalkeeper's bodies, although youngster Kasper doesn't seem to quite have the hang of it yet.
