Nottingham Forest boss Billy Davies has received a formal apology from Crystal Palace after the clubs radio station accused him of ‘throwing his toys out of the pram’.
The Scot was enraged last weekend when Palace defender Clint Hill appeared to elbow Paul Anderson on the stroke of half-time during the sides' 1-1 draw at Selhurst Park, sparking a melee in front of the dug-outs between the two boss'.
Palace's radio commentary was 'accidentally' fed through the stadium's PA system just as the commentator described the visiting manager as "throwing his toys out of the pram," to which Davies was not best amused.
He said to Sky Sports: "I was 'out of my pram' because I'm trying to protect my player, 21 years of age who had just been hit in the head. And I'm really sorry if I've upset this tannoy guy. Tell him I'm sorry."
The former Preston boss was also incensed by his opposite number, Neil Warnock's reaction to the incident involvind Hill and Anderson and continued to lay into the Eagles boss after the final whistle.
Davies added: "Neil's very good at making it look the opposite of what's happened. He's a great lad, wears his heart on his sleeve and I've great respect for him and what he has done. But sometimes he's on a different planet."
Warnock was furious to discover Davies had labelled his side as too physical and hit back in typical scathing fashion: "I think that's a disgraceful statement. If I'd spent nearly £4.5million on players, I'd probably say a bit less than that.
"He should keep his mouth shut and ass how come we carved them up so often and created so many chances."
