Lita aims for Boro revival

Middlesbrough striker Leroy Lita has vowed to spearhead a revival at The Riverside after a disappointing start to the season on Teeside.

The arrival of Gordon Strachan, following Gareth Southgate's dismissal with 'Boro flying high in the league earlier in the year, has failed to ignite a promotion charge.

Despite some impressive displays - including last weekend when they overturned QPR by 5-1 - Strachan's men are languishing in tenth place in the table.

They have found wins hard to come by, especially at home, where they have lost as many games as anyone else in the divison.

More worryingly they have only managed to score eight times, and were unable to find the net during their latest defeat to Blackpool (0-3).

But ahead of the game against promotion hopefuls Cardiff the former Reading man has vowed to turn things around, and give the fans something to cheer about.

"To be fair, if I was a fan, I wouldn't have wanted to cheer that on Tuesday night. You could understand.

"I don't think the fans are to blame one bit. We let ourselves down, it's as simple as that. We didn't perform and everyone could see that.

"It's up to us now to put that right."
