Middlesbrough boss Gareth Southgate is adamant that defender David Wheater will not following Robert Huth and Tuncay Sanli out of the exit door at the Riverside before the transfer window closes.
Huth, 25, and Tuncay, 27, completed moves to Stoke City on Thursday, with the Premier League outfit paying a fee in the region of £11million to Boro to capture their signatures.
Big-money flop Afonso Alves is also likely to leave Teeside in the coming days with Qatari champions Al-Saad and Dutch giants Ajax reportedly keen, while Wheater has also been linked with a return to the top-flight.
Everton and Aston Villa have both been linked with the 22-year-old centre-back, but Southgate insists the Engalnd Under-21 international is an integral part of his plans and has no intention of selling.
"David is somebody we have just said is not for sale, and he made it clear he has no desire to move at the moment, so I don't forsee anything in that," said Southgate.
Southgate has played down the significance of Huth's departure from the club and has backed Chris Riggott and Austria international Emanuel Pogetetz to fill the void left by powerful German.
"Everyone assumes it will be - and it will be - a blow to us, but the bigger picture is that we have two outstanding centre backs to come back in," said the Boro boss.
Meanwhile, former Manchester United youngster Danny Webber is widely expected to join the Championship outfit in the nexy few days after being released by Sheffield United at the end of last season.
