Several members of the Manchester City squad are under observation for swine flu after it was confirmed both Craig Bellamy and Vladimir Weiss have contracted the potentially deadly H1N1 virus.
City assistant manager Mark Bowen has admitted Bellamy has been suffering from the illness, while Weiss was ordered to stay away from Eastlands ahead of Saturday's Premier League victory over Chelsea for the fear of spreading the virus.
The highly-rated Slovakian winger will be forced to sit out City's clash with Bolton at the Reebok Stadium, although Bellamy should be fit for the clash.
A number of other staff members have reported flu-like symptoms and have had swabs taken as the club looks to minimise the risk of the virus affecting more of the star names. "There is a little bit of it creeping into the camp," Bowen told the Manchester Evening News.
"Players come in every day with sniffles, coughs and colds and the doctor has to determine whether it is the onset of something more serious.
"It is his decision whether they have to be sent home."
Defender Micah Richards was struck down by the virus in August, while Premier League duo Bolton Wanderers and Blackburn Rovers both admitted recently that some of their players had been struck down with the illness.
