Argentine striker Carlos Tevez has shocked Manchester City fans by proclaiming he is seriously considering retiring from football altogether as he is suffering from fatigue.
The 25-year-old has revealed he wants to spend more time with his family and still harbours a dream to go back to Argentina and play for Boca Juniors before he hangs up his boots.
The former West Ham and Manchester United forward only joined City in the summer for a fee of £25.5million, signing a five-year contract that he promised he would see out, but it seems that may not be the case now.
He was quoted as saying by skysports.com: "It's complicated, there's my family, the desire to return to Boca Juniors, but I think about it. It crosses my mind to hang up my boots if we win the World Cup, although I have a contract (with City) until 2014.
"I'm a bit tired of so much football. I want to enjoy my family a bit. I'm very keen to stop and get a bit of calm. I've already won a lot. Living for football has saturated me."
Tevez, who has scored four goals in 12 appearances for the Eastlands club, has fallen out of favour in the Argentina national side under coach Diego Maradona, finding himself behind Gonzalo Higuain and even 35-year-old Martin Palermo.
He added: "My chance passed. I had my possibility and I couldn't take advantage of it. When the team needed goals I couldn't provide them.
"So it's logical that other lads should be in front of me.
"We were criticised a lot, sometimes rightly so, but to have people say we didn't play well because of the money or we don't love the (Argentina) shirt, don't sing the national anthem, there's a lot of ill will."
However, City fans needn't worry as he did say he would consider retirement IF Argentina win the 2010 World Cup, and as long as Maradona is in charge there is no chance in hell that will happen!
It's curious Tevez should put it down to fatigue, when just a few months ago he gave his reason for leaving Manchester United as the fact he wasn't playing enough games. Hmmm...
