Liverpool star Fernando Torres concedes that the Reds are now out of the Premier League title race and have turned their attention to Europa League and FA Cup glory this season.
Rafa Benitez's men have had a disastrous season so far; crashing out of the UEFA Champions League at the group stage and languishing in seventh place in the league - 12 points behind leaders Chelsea.
Just three wins in their last 14 games in all competitions is a shocking sequence and has increased the pressure on under-fire boss Benitez, with the club's 19 year wait for that elusive league title set to continue.
But 'El Nino' insists this season can be salvaged, so long as the Reds finish in the top-four, and pick up some silverware either domestically or in Europe between now and May.
"This season is not the season we were expecting at the beginning of the season, but these things happen," he told Sky Sports News.
"We were thinking of trophies, first choice was the Champions League and the Premier League - we are out of the Champions League, and we are really far out from the Premier League, so we now change our targets.
"We have to think the Europa League and FA Cup are the two competitions we can win this season and obviously trying to stay in the top four."
Torres, who joined Liverpool for a club-record £21million from Atletico Madrid in 2007, is adamant success can only be achieved if everyone connected with the club sticks together and remains united.
"Staying together is the main thing now," he insisted.
"If we can stay together, manager, players, staff, everyone at the club, we have quality enough to stay in the top four and win trophies.
"At the end of the season if we win one trophy, it will have been a nice season, so we are on target."
