Rafa Benitez insists he remains '100 per cent' committed to Liverpool Football Club after reports emerged that the Spaniard was on the brink of a sensational exit from Anfield.
Bookmakers Paddy Power suspended betting on the 49-year-old's future prior to Reds' 4-0 home victory over Stoke on Wednesday evening as speculation intensified that he was set to resign from his post.
Liverpool's title credentials were called into question following a 2-1 defeat at Tottenham in their first game of the season, while a lack of financial backing from his board had sparked fresh rumours Benitez was set to quit.
However, even though Benitez openly admits he needs more funds to add to his squad, the former Valencia coach is adamant that his side can still end their 20-year wait for a league title, with or without any new arrivals.
"I was told about the rumours, that maybe something happened here at Anfield, but I will tell the fans I want to stay - my commitment is 100 per cent," Benitez said.
"If I can improve the squad I will be pleased, but if I can't then I will stay to try and compete with the squad that we have."
"I can state I am committed to this club. When I signed a new contract I decided to stay here for the fans, for the staff for the players.
"We will try to get what we can, we will try to do what we can."
