Ipswich Town boss Roy Keane is understood to be considering a shock move to bring West Ham United midfielder Kieron Dyer back to Portman Road.
The 30-year-old has endured a miserable time through injury at Upton Park since his £6million switch from Newcastle United two years ago and is understood to be open to a return to his hometown club.
Dyer joined the Tractor Boys as a schoolboy and enjoyed three years in the first-team before moving to Newcastle for £6.5million in July 1999.
He has always spoken fondly of his time at the club and according to The Daily Telegraph he may just be on his way back with Ipswich owner Marcus Evans prepared to make more funds available to Keane.
The Suffolk-based club are currently languishing second from bottom of the Championship after a disappointing start to the season so far, despite 'Keano' spending a whopping £8million on new players in the past financial year.
However, a major stumbling block for Ipswich in their attempts to lure Dyer 'home' would be his astronomical wages, with the former England international said to earn around £60,000-a-week with the Hammers.
