Under-fire Ipswich Town boss Roy Keane has been given the dreaded vote of confidence by the club's board despite the Tractor Boys' worst start to a season in their 73 year professional history.
The Portman Road outfit are yet to win a game this term, leaving them rock bottom of the Championship table with just five points in 10 games, despite the fact 'Keano' splashed out close to £8million on new recruits during the summer.
Keane and the club's suffering supporters endured more frustration in midweek when Town pegged back to a draw against Sheffield United at Bramall Lane despite coming from behind to take a commanding 3-1 lead.
Despite their dismal start, though, the the club's chief executive Simon Clegg has backed former Manchester United captain Keane to turn things around and has given him his full backing.
"Nothing has changed," said Clegg after the game against the Blades. "We still have absolute confidence in Roy and believe he is the right man for the job."
Asked his view on the situation, a relieved Keane joked: "I'll probably be sacked next week."
He added: "Simon and the owner appreciate the position we're in, but it doesn't mean to say they are happy.
"He (Simon) is well aware of how disappointed we are with the start. We've just got to get on with it."
